Lens based media - Day 3

For my storyboard I created collages and mixed media work. I did not stick my collage together and only took photographs to save time. My inspiration for the story came from a mixture of a bad dream I recently had, and also when I looked through magazines and find images that I would like to include as part of the story.

The first image shows me sleeping. I used a pen to draw on top of the image, to make the figure look more like myself with dark hair.

This image shows I was waking up to realize I was in a forest. There are fruits floating around, and beside me a tiny figure riding a bike.

Here, I see the two things I’m most scared off, a clown and spiders. The clown was instructing the white flying spiders to go and attack me. I titled my camera to try photographing at different angles, which I though worked well. It seems to have made the paper spiders looks more alive.

In this image I suddenly saw in front of me a bloodless hand coming at me, which seems like it is trying to strangle me. By titling the camera it makes the 2D collage look 3D. it is like the hand is crawling towards the audience.

This image conveys the idea that I was too scared to move and the only thing I thought of was to scream.
I think it makes things seem more scarier not showing the person, but instead just a scream. I also used red oil pastel to make the image look more chilling. I purposely made the image look slightly fuzzy, to express further the terrifying atmosphere in the image with the helpless screaming.

I was woken up from my nightmare with my mum screaming at me as I was late for University, again. I was back in my room, with my head down trying to recover from the dream and ignoring all the shouts.
I thought it would be easier to just draw the image, than to look through tons of magazines to try and find the right pictures. It was a very quick and rough drawing, using oil pastels.
