3DD day 3

The task was to use different drawing materials to draw our test pieces. I did not bring in my objects as I did not know that I would need it for the lesson, so I was told to quickly produce 10 pieces from scratch. I managed under an hour to create 10 new test pieces. I think it is probably due to urgency and the fact that everyone else is already doing the drawing task made me work really quickly in order to catch up to them. I found being under pressure does benefit me, as I feel some of the objects I produced have more interesting forms to them than the ones I made before.

After I finished I went straight on to do observational drawings of my models. However, due to the time I wasted making the objects, I only managed to do two drawings. I took the A1 paper home to finish off the drawings. Next time, I should ask my tutor beforehand on what to bring in for the next lesson. Another option could be to ask someone from my class, or to look into the 3D pathway handbook.

Prior to the lesson we had to print about 10 images we took of our models. Using the images of the models we had to transform it into a function. Depending on what career path we are planning to choose, such as a person who wants to do product design will transform from their pictures of their models into products. I want to do something in relations to interior so I would be transforming my images into a functional space. We used tracing paper for this task. I first traced mainly the outline of my photograph. Then, putting another piece of tracing paper on top of the first layer, I would be adding the elements such as drawing the different levels in the building, door, furniture’s etc... Then, I add another layer of tracing paper, where I would be putting figures into the space. I looked back into the first page of my sketchbook where I written the 50 spaces and abruptly decided my building would function as a gallery.

This task took quite a lot of time, so I only managed to complete one design before the class finished. Also, I am someone who likes to draw and trace neatly, which is why I used so much time. I realized because I used a pencil to draw my design, they are not clear enough through the photographs I took. I should try going over the drawings using a marker or pen. Also, I could try colouring my designs, to possibly make it look more intriguing.
