FMP - week 6 (2)

I went to the 4D model shop and brought a piece of ply wood. I talked to the staff in the shop, and they said that all the wood they have can be laser cut.

I got my design cut on the laser cutter. I used sandpaper from home to take off the slightly burnt surface layer, as the wood will be the interior of my model and the exterior will be covered by the same design but on white styrene sheet. I made this decision whilst I was in the 4D model shop, where I saw all the materials that they have and visualize how I want my model to look like. The pod house will be attached to the location, which is the flat I live in, so I wanted to have a light, weightless appearance. This is why I decided to have white exterior to suggest the weightlessness.

Next, I will have to use the Zun machine to get my styrene sheet to cut. I have also started over the weekend creating my flat on Adobe Illustrator, so I will have to finish that and get it cut by that same machine.

In my action plan, I will be spending the last two week of the project making my model, which I am currently doing.
